An Elegant Façade Design For A Taiwanese High Rise
The sixth tallest building in Taiwan when complete, the Fubon Life Insurance Building will include retail and office space, a rooftop events space, hotel, banquet hall, museum and an outside public garden.
We provided façade consulting and specialty façade analysis to Renzo Piano Building Workshop for the corporate headquarters, which opened in 2023.
Highlights
- In response to the challenging climate in Taipei, we engineered the external façades as a double skin wall by optimising the work provided by Renzo Piano Building Workshop for The Shard in London.
- The façades are designed to withstand high seismic and wind loads.
- We also evaluated closed cavity façades by reviewing the market and commercially available systems that are able to address demanding project conditions.
- The building is located a few blocks away from Taipei 101, for which Thornton Tomasetti provided structural design, peer view and constructability review services.
