Overview

The Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse is the hub for live entertainment in Northeast Ohio yet went decades without any major renovations since opening in 1994. The facility's most recent renovation - completed in 2019 - completely transformed the way fans engage with the stadium. The multi-purpose arena now sports several notable features, including an innovation glass façade, over 100 pieces of new artwork and an immersive fan entryway made up of over 25 million pixels and over 2,000 square feet of LED panels.

We provided structural design, façade engineering and protective design services to SHoP Architects for the renovation of the arena.

Highlights

  • The project included a dynamic new 85-foot tall, glass-enclosed public entry spanning an entire city block. A glass façade with 1,475 glass pieces and an atrium added over 40,000 square feet of public space.
  • The project scope also included updates to the overall enclosure to meet National Basketball Association recommendations.
  • Our team also provided a blast assessment, vehicle threat assessment and barrier design integrated with utility structures and the streetscape.
