Overview

Levit Green in Houston, Texas, aims to become one of the primary sites for life science research in the United States. Located adjacent to the Texas Medical Center, the new 280,000-square-foot, five-story mixed-use life sciences building offers a mix of research facilities, office and outdoor spaces, including lakefront lounge areas and other amenities.

We provided structural design services for the project, which occupies a site with space to accommodate up to nine total similar buildings. Offering more than 25,000 square feet of lab incubator space, Levit Green strives to fill a gap in Houston's current lack of high-quality purpose-built lab and research facility space.

Highlights

  • The building includes enhanced structural vibration attenuation, 100 percent redundant emergency power and augmented mechanical systems
  • The building is designed to serve today's advanced life science laboratory needs, with column bay sizes and control of floor vibrations conforming to current laboratory requirements.
  • The building is constructed of cast-in-place concrete slabs with drop panels.
