Overview
The cargo facility at Hamad International Airport has the capacity to handle 1.4 million tons of cargo each year, making it one of the 20 largest cargo facilities in the world.
We were the lead structural consultant to the design-build team, ADCC Joint Venture, for the 55,000-square-meter facility. Our role also included performing a peer review of the facility’s structural design.
Highlights
- A main feature of the cargo warehouse facility is a partial mezzanine to support an automated warehouse storage and retrieval system.
- We also provided structural design for high-bay storage areas, workstations for make-up and breakdown of unit load devices (ULDs) and storage areas for special cargo.
- The facility has 11 wide-body freighter aircraft stands and 42 airside-loading docks.
