F&M Bank Arena
A new entertainment center in Clarksville, Tennessee, hosts ice hockey tournaments, concerts and conventions.
Overview
The F&M Bank Arena’s versatile event space is revitalizing downtown Clarksville. When it's not hosting basketball games for Austin Peay State University’s men's and women’s teams, it attracts visitors with banquets, concerts and trade shows. The second floor is home to an ice rink that hosts hockey and figure skating programs for both children and adults.
We conducted a detailed review of temporary bracing and stability, including the development of an erection procedure. We also developed analysis models to provide data on truss movements for monitoring during erection.
Highlights
- We provided design and detail drawings for the temporary bracing, pipe shoring and other temporary works needed to ensure the structure’s stability during erection.
- Due to tight site constraints, crane position was limited to inside the bowl and a portion of the structure at the west end had to be left out until roof completion.
- The portion of the bowl structure left out included permanent braced frames for both the bowl and roof. To manage this construction sequence, we meticulously planned the bracing installation and removal in alignment with the general contractor’s schedule for completing the concrete slab on metal deck and the timeline for erecting the leave-out structure.
