Overview
In 2011 the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) – an arm of the Department of Defense providing information technology support – sought out a new headquarters facility on the grounds of the Fort Meade Golf Course in Maryland. The secure project includes space for offices, Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) rooms, laboratories, assembly space and a broadcast studio.
We provided structural design and construction engineering services to RTKL (Callison/RTKL) for the 1,070,000-squre foot design-build project that was completed in 29 months.
Highlights
- The complex incorporates anti-terrorism/force protection provisions stipulated by Department of Defense Unified Facilities Code requirements.
- The campus also includes raised access flooring throughout and a tunnel that links two of the buildings.
- We also provided connection design and detailing services, under a separate contract with the steel fabricator.
