Overview

Transforming the downtown Milwaukee skyline, The Couture replaces an underused transit center with a multimodal transit hub for the community. As a key piece of the Lakefront Gateway Project, the 47-story tower - which is the state’s tallest residential building - will bring vibrancy to the lakefront site.

We provided structural design and façade engineering services to Rinka and construction engineering to Findorff for the 860,000-square-foot mixed-use development.

Highlights

  • In addition to 50,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space located in the podium, the slender, 537-foot-high residential tower (as measured from the top of foundations) offers 322 high-end apartment units.
  • The site contains a new light rail connection that passes through the podium and over the top of the two-story basement parking levels as well as a pedestrian bridge connecting the building to Milwaukee’s lakefront.
  • Façade engineering services include contract document review, subcontractor submission reviews, and on site observations of curtain wall, window wall, storefront and structural glass systems.
