CitizenM Miami Worldcenter
CitizenM opened its third location in Miami, expanding options for visitors to indulge in luxury accommodations without breaking the bank.
Overview
CitizenM offers travelers of Europe, America and Asia the chance to experience affordable luxury at hotels in central city locations. The hotel chain opened a 12-story microhotel in Miami Worldcenter, providing visitors with a place to stay while remaining close to entertainment options, such as the Kaseya Center. The 178,00-square-foot space includes a rooftop pool, swim spa, outdoor gym and sundeck.
We provided structural design services to Gensler for the hotel. We also conducted structural threshold inspections by examining reinforcement for slabs, columns, shear walls, masonry walls, beams and stairs, along with assessing the placement of concrete for all structural elements.
Highlights
- The structural design includes post-tensioned slabs supported by narrow elongated tower columns hidden within partition walls to accommodate the tight and efficient layout of the hotel’s micro-rooms.
- The critical location of the tower columns necessitated column transfers at the first elevated level to allow for flexibility within the showcase ground floor lobby level.
- The hotel’s feature rooftop amenity levels including swim spa, sundeck, outdoor gym and bar required column transfers, additional support slabs and structural framing to accommodate the changing pit depths for floor finishes, landscape and pools.
