CitizenM Miami Brickell
Clad in a massive mural by artist Jen Stark, citizenM Miami Brickell marks the brand's first hotel with a rooftop pool.
Overview
The first of three citizenM destinations for Miami, the citizenM Miami Brickell is a sleek 21-story tower with 296 guestrooms and retail and amenities at the lobby level. The 110,000-square-foot building also features an active rooftop area with a bar, gym and citizenM’s first rooftop pool. Much of the tower's facade is clad in a massive mural by American artist Jen Stark.
We provided structural design services to Gensler for the micro-hotel, which opened in 2021.
Highlights
- The project is located on a tight site where the neighboring building is only one inch away from citizenM Brickell. This required the team to determine creative solutions to offset the foundations.
- The structural design includes post-tensioned slabs supported by narrow elongated tower columns hidden within partition walls to accommodate the tight and efficient layout of the hotel’s micro-rooms.
- We provided the structural design of the main building components - shear walls, beams, columns, slabs, foundations and concrete stairs - as well as structural threshold inspections. The inspections involved examining reinforcement for slabs, columns, shear walls, masonry walls, beams and stairs. It also involved assessing the placement of concrete for all structural elements.
