Having celebrated 100 years of service in 2024, Bear Mountain Bridge is one of the NYSBA’s oldest bridges, marking the first vehicular river crossing built between New York City and Albany. Upon completion, it was the longest suspension bridge in the world and the first suspended bridge to have a concrete deck, paving the way for other notable bridges such as the George Washinton and the Golden Gate.

We are providing structural design services for the project, which will include replacing the aging bridge deck to ensure the safety and continued service of the bridge. With annual crossings of more than 7 million, the bridge is a vital connection in carrying NYS Routes 6 and 202 as well as the Appalachian Trail over the Hudson River.
