A Distinctive Office Tower
The signature hourglass façade feature, cut into a corner, sets off this 30-story Midtown office tower.
We provided structural design, connection design and Tekla modeling services to Pei Cobb Freed & Partners for the building, which was completed in 2015.
Highlights
- The hourglass feature is created structurally with sloping columns. Many of the perimeter tower columns transfer onto large built-up plate girders at the 10th floor to create 60-foot column-free lease depths at the podium levels.
- The mixed-use building offers expansive views of Bryant Park and its hourglass shape provides uniquely shaped feature windows at every floor.
- The basic structural system consists of a core-first concrete core with surrounding steel framing.
