205 E. 200 South
Pre-design structural evaluations for the demolition of a 1960s concrete building in downtown Salt Lake City to make way for a mixed-use residential development.
Overview
The six-story building at 205 E 200 South in Salt Lake City originally served as a data center for Mountain Bell. Recently it was purchased by a real estate investment and development firm that plans to demolish the concrete structure and redevelop the property as a mixed-use residential project with one or two high-rise towers and a low-rise podium.
We are providing pre-design structural evaluation services to Dart Interests for the project, and our scope is focused on the evaluation of the existing structure, evaluation and observation of the adjacent structures and review of demolition plans.
Highlights
- We are evaluating the existing structure for potential re-use as part of the new development.
- Generating 3-D scans of the existing structure has confirmed alignment with the existing structural drawings.
- We are providing an evaluation and documentation of the adjacent structures to determine and reduce potential impacts during demolition.
- We are performing vibration and acoustic monitoring during demolition.
- We are reviewing the proposed demolition plan and the existing structure for support of loading under temporary conditions during the demolition process to minimize risk of unanticipated collapse.
