160 2nd Avenue N. in Nashville, Tennessee
After a tragic Christmas morning bombing rocked the downtown entertainment district, we performed a structural condition assessment and designed emergency stabilization for a historic masonry building.
On 6:30 a.m. Christmas morning in 2020, Downtown Nashville was rocked by a bomb that affected the 160 block of the Second Avenue North in the city’s entertainment district. The four-story historic masonry building at 160 2nd Avenue N., which was home to the Old Spaghetti Factory restaurant for 40 years, sustained heavy structural damage from the bombing.
We performed a structural condition assessment and designed emergency stabilization for the building. After determining the structure could be stabilized and repaired, we designed and administered the installation of “make-safe “shoring and bracing, liaising with the local building authority throughout the process.
