From the turn-of-the-century Ingalls Building in Cincinnati to the 1-kilometer Jeddah Tower now rising in Saudi Arabia, reinforced concrete has paved the way for architectural and engineering innovations. Earlier this week, Founding Chairman Richard Tomasetti and architect and guest curator Thomas Leslie joined Carol Willis, director of New York City’s The Skyscraper Museum, in a panel discussion on how the material has shaped building design as part of the museum’s new exhibition, “The Modern Concrete Skyscraper.” Several Thornton Tomasetti projects, including Jeddah Tower and Petronas Twin Towers are featured in the program. The exhibit will run through August.
