Visualization Services
Whether we’re illustrating a project strategy or offering expert court testimony, our visualization team uses images and animations to tell your story clearly, accurately and compellingly.
Described only in words, complex ideas, large or sprawling projects, or projects comprising many moving parts can be difficult to envision: What do the components look like, how do they fit together, and how do they work? How will we implement a design? What led to the current condition, and why? Nothing answers these questions better than a well-crafted visualization.
What Can We Visualize? Practically Anything!
Images and animations can – and should – be attractive, but they can also be entertaining and edifying. Our technical illustration and animation professionals paint a vivid picture for your audience so that you don’t have to rely on words alone to convey importance and meaning.
From a space telescope to a condominium or maintenance hole cover, we can visualize almost anything – from concept to construction, maintenance and decommissioning.
How Can You Use Our Visualizations?
A visualization is an effective medium for conveying or explaining engineering concepts or mechanics, as well as the science and physics behind them. High-quality visualizations produced by our technical illustrators can assist you in an almost infinite number of ways, including:
- Demonstrating a process or sequence of events
- Serving as visual aids for mediations before going to court
- Illustrating past, present or projected site conditions and project timelines
- Presenting complex industrial equipment, systems and piping
- Making complex or abstract concepts easier to understand, especially in court, where cases are often tried by people with little or no engineering background
Our visualizations can appear in all types of media and under a variety of circumstances: websites, presentations, manuals, proposals, articles, commercial video displays, court testimony, and more. They can animate construction sequences for structures that have yet to be built, or they can bring a collapsed or damaged structure or system back to “life” to illustrate how it came to be in its final condition.
Why Choose Thornton Tomasetti?
Our professional visualization designers have extensive backgrounds in creating illustrations and animations for scientists, engineers and forensic investigators. They work closely with our technical experts to tap into Thornton Tomasetti’s multidisciplinary expertise in transportation, forensics, structural and construction engineering, and to incorporate all the relevant information into their designs and investigations.
We delve deep into the details to tell your story concisely and persuasively, so that what you get is a high-fidelity representation of real-world conditions, based on real data and scientific and engineering principles – and accurate enough to use as evidence in expert court testimony.
HERE’S HOW
Our visualization professionals combine decades of experience and training with state-of-the-art graphics software to develop the most realistic 3D images and animations available. We can produce static illustrations consisting of a single image or series of images, as well as animated sequences that illustrate relationships between objects, showing how they move and change over time. Or we can create renderings from software processes like point clouds from survey or field data, analysis models or Navisworks files.
We can import files in most formats, including Revit, and transform them into solid-appearing objects in three-dimensional space. And when a CAD, Revit or other model isn’t available for import, our team carefully examines all available materials to construct a model from sketches, drawings, diagrams and photos, and precise measurements they perform on-site.
