Aviation & Transportation
Our experience in aviation and transportation facilities spans a wide range of structures – terminals, bridges, hangars, cargo facilities – and functional needs – seismic upgrades, renovations, and blast design. Our alliance with Hardesty & Hanover allows us to deliver a broad range of design and forensic services in aviation and transportation. In all our design work, expressed structure is a common theme. In a long-span ticketing hall or in a concourse, structural bays can create rhythm and visual excitement. Airplane interiors may look similar, but terminals can create a sense of place and enhance the traveler’s experience. We collaborate with architects to create special spaces in transportation hubs, and welcome the challenge of making a visual statement that is noteworthy, functional, and affordable. Aircraft hangars pose a different, equally welcome challenge: to enclose large column-free spaces in an efficient structure that meets specific user requirements. In our Building Performance work, including forensic analysis and assessment and renovation, we bring a wealth of modeling and analytic techniques to determine causes of failure and appropriate remedial approaches.
