Louisiana Superdome Hurricane Katrina Damage Investigation
Thornton Tomasetti has been involved in the investigation, analysis and improvements to the NFL New Orleans Saints and Tulane University’s Superdome since it was battered by Hurricane Katrina. Repairs and renovations to date have included a full roof deck and roofing replacement, new scoreboards, new camera platforms, modifications to the catwalks and mechanical platforms and club improvements. Current on-going work on the project includes a complete building structural analysis, retrofit necessary for installation of four new escalators, replacement of all exterior cladding, expansion of the concourse, reconstruction of the lower seating bowl, renovation of the suite level, and relocation of the writing press area to the upper deck.
