Louisiana Superdome Enhancements
New Orleans, La.
Structural design is complete for enhancements at the Superdome and the project is now under construction. The Superdome is the largest fixed-dome structure in the world, with 13 acres under its steel-frame roof. The renovations will return the stadium to a state-of-the-art facility, ready to host the 2012 Final Four and the Super Bowl in 2013. Work includes the addition of 3,100 sideline seats, improved sightlines, improved disabled seating, new club suites, a new end zone party deck and widening of the plaza level by 50 feet. The press box will be moved to the terrace level, and new suites will be added to the existing ones on the 300 Level—both to be completed for the Saints’ 2010-2011 season. Three elevators will be added to service levels 100 through 500, and two existing elevators will be extended to service the new press level. Custom anodized aluminum panels will restore the original light bronze color of the Superdome’s exterior with a fade-proof finish. The remaining enhancements are scheduled to be completed for the Saint’s 2011-12 season.
