ABN AMRO Plaza
ABN AMRO Plaza serves as an administration and operations center for one of Chicago’s largest banks. The state-of-the-art technology facility features a raised floor system and accommodates more than 5,000 employees.
The building’s structure consists of a steel frame with a concrete core and a composite metal deck slab system. For two lower parking levels, a cast-in-place post-tensioned concrete structure is implemented, enabling long spans between columns and thinner structural depths.
After a thorough wind tunnel analysis was conducted, the core wall was made even more efficient by reducing its size to the relatively narrow dimension of 30-feet-wide by 150-feet-long, while still maintaining acceptable acceleration and deflection performance levels.
