The HSC Foundation Headquarters
The seven-story, 30,000-sf headquarters for The HSC Foundation topped out last month. We are providing structural design to Group Goetz Architects. The project incorporates an existing three-story, nineteenth-century row house and carriage house. Restoration work includes stabilization of exterior walls and replacement of floors and underpinning to accommodate the addition of a new below-grade level. In addition to designing the new building, we designed the framing behind the historic façade and provided recommendations for the restoration of the existing brick masonry. The new lobby features two stories of clear height space, with the historic structures prominently displayed within. The five floors above the lobby are designed for office use and integrate the remaining floors of the existing buildings. Other notable features of the new building are its narrow 35-ft width and that it has only one structural bay.
